NECESSARY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE PROVISIONING PROCEDURES FOR OUTPATIENTS

Necessary medical assistance includes first aid and emergency medical care provided by personal health care institutions. Emergency medical care is a qualified health care service, provided by a doctor when a patient's life is at risk or there is a chance of severe complications.

Necessary (first aid and emergency) medical care at personal health care institutions is accessible to every patient. When trying to reach for emergency medical care at a personal health care institution, referral to a doctor is optional.

In case of a severe illness, when fever, moderate pain (4-5 points on a visual analogue pain scale), shortness of breath, while being in a calm state within 24 hours, headache and dizziness, impaired coordination, nausea, and vomiting, or sudden progressive swelling occurs, also when suffering from various injuries, the patient would get to a family practitioner the same day of reaching out for personal health care service, in case of chronic disease worsening the patient can get to a family practitioner or other primary outpatient care specialist- in 7 calendar days of reaching out to a personal health care institution for personal health care service day.

First aid- is immediate and crucial assistance, to aid other people’s or one’s self-health by using accessible medical and/or other tools and materials, until the victim/patient receives urgent institutional medical care or the patient's state becomes normal or death is declared.

Severe clinical conditions or emergency medical care provision indications are divided into emergency medical treatment categories. In the case of the 1st emergency medical treatment category, the doctor assists immediately. In case of 2nd- not later than 10 minutes after arriving at the institution, in case of 3rd- not later than 30 minutes after arriving at the institution, in case of 4th category- not later than 1 hour after arriving at the institution.

Necessary medical assistance is provided at dispensary’s working hours, from 7.00 to 20.00h on business days, from 8.00 to 12.00h on Saturdays.
